Apple Chips
If you have a massive quantity of apples and need a delicious way to store them in a small space, long term, try apple chips! One of my kids loves these sweet apple chips and will take these in his school lunches as a special treat! They also make the house smell amazing as they are drying! Who doesn't love the smell of warm apples? Ahhh, fall!
Ingredients
-
Bucket of flavorful apples (ours are very tart, but due to the concentrating of the sugars from drying, they end up being quite sweet)
-
Sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg (optional)
-
2 to 3 tbsp lemon juice
Step 1
Cut apples into quarters and de-core.
Step 2
Place apples in food processor and slice (I use the thickest setting). Stir in lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Step 3
Spread out on drying racks of a dehydrator. Set to the temperature recommended for drying fruit and allow to dry for 12 to 24 hours. Remove, cool and enjoy or freeze for later.
